Program Description

This degree is designed for students who already have a first degree in accounting, finance, business and economics, or in a quantitative subject (such as science or engineering). It provides an advanced level of study to help start a successful career in the corporate sector. You will also be equipped with the research skills to consider academic options such as PhD level study.

OVERVIEW

If you are looking to launch a successful career in the business and the public sectors, working in a role such as a financial accountant, management accountant, auditor, fund manager, financial manager or financial analyst then this course is for you.

You will gain a sound understanding of the most important theories and practices in international and management accounting, in investments and in corporate finance and governance.

Teaching is supported by practical case studies, seminars and computer labs offering you a deep insight into the latest qualitative and quantitative tools used by accounting and financial practitioners today.

RESEARCH FOCUSED

Teaching in the course draws from the latest developments in the academic research aiming to develop your research skills. You will have the opportunity to attend research seminars from international academic experts, and graduates will also be able to pursue a PhD in Accounting or Finance.

Accounting and Finance Dissertation

This programme is for you if you have already studied business at undergraduate level and wish to build on your existing skillset. It is especially suitable if you would like a broad business qualification, and currently do not have enough management experience to join an MBA programme. It is also for you if you like the idea of doing a MSc with the chance to complete a dissertation.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Degree Subject Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Management or a degree in a quantitative subject (such as Science or Engineering). NB: There is a numerical content in a range of modules on the course, students need a competent level of numeracy to complete the course. Degree Classification 2:1 or above or the international equivalent

Students for whom English is a foreign language:

We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

IELTS: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all components) PTE (Pearson): 62 (minimum 55 in all components)

Test dates should be within two years of the course start date.

Scholarships and Funding

A variety of Scholarships may be offered to UK/EU and International students. Scholarships are normally awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and are usually for the duration of the period of study.

Funding for postgraduate study is also available both from the university and from a number of external schemes.
