Why UConn's Executive MBA Program? Accrediting agencies and comparative college reviews recognize the quality and value of UConn’s MBA programs worldwide. The program has been fully and continuously accredited since 1958 by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The University of Connecticut is consistently ranked the #1 public institution in New England by U.S. News & World Report, and the UConn School of Business ranks among the “Best B-Schools” in the nation according to Business Week. The School of Business is also recognized as a “Top Business School for 2004” according to The Wall Street Journal and the MBA program ranks among the nation’s top MBA programs for “Return on Investment” according to Forbes.
UConn’s Executive MBA Program is designed to enhance existing skills - and develop new ones - for experienced managers, professionals, and entrepreneurs. This is accomplished through a selective admissions process that brings together a broad group of highly qualified and motivated participants with significant management experience. An intensive, challenging curriculum, under the guidance of an experienced and dedicated faculty, stresses the analytical, organizational, communication, and behavioral skills necessary to be successful in diverse management situations.
The Executive MBA is a 48-credit program. The program begins with an In-Residence Week, held at UConn's main campus in Storrs, during which students get acquainted with the program, faculty, group-mates, and prepare for their upcoming projects. After In-Residence Week, classes meet every other weekend from September to June. The International Study Trip usually takes place in the second week of June when students travel to a foreign country, studying foreign business practices, management styles and norms, operations and the culture. The trip lasts about one week. During the summer students work on their Executive Management Projects which incorporates their experience from the trip with the knowledge and skills gained from the first half of the program. The normal class schedule resumes in August and the program ends in April with a commencement ceremony.

Founded in 1941, the mission of the School of Business is to create and disseminate knowledge that significantly influences and enriches the students, the community of business scholars and the global world of business practice. To that end, the School of Business has established a strong reputation for high quality research and academic programs, spanning a wide array of functional disciplines — Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Operations and Information Management. Its interdisciplinary centers in real estate, health systems management, international business, and entrepreneurship have gained widespread recognition for their research and service.
The UConn School of Business has developed into one of the most comprehensive business schools in the nation, offering academic programs at the bachelors, masters, doctorate and advanced certificate levels, spanning five Connecticut locations — Storrs, Hartford, Stamford, Torrington and Waterbury. The School’s location in the middle of the New York City – Boston corridor (the heartland of Fortune 500 territory) provides the program with a dense network of corporate partners and strong distribution for its graduates into the workplace.
In recent years, the School has evolved from a strong regional business school into one of broader reach, positioned to become one of the best public business schools in the nation. To lead this transformation, the School established a series of strategic priorities designed to build upon and enhance current strengths. It has continued and expanded its leadership role as a key intellectual resource for the business community in such diverse industries as information technology, managed health care and international trade.
Continuously accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, since 1958, the School’s success has not gone unnoticed. The School ranks in the top 7 percent of business schools and is widely considered one of the best in the Northeast as evidenced in frequent rankings by Business Week, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal and U.S. News & World Report.
Looking ahead, business in the twenty-first century will occur in an increasingly complex environment of rapid change, particularly in the area of information technology. In this context, UConn’s School of Business — by creating knowledge that significantly influences managerial ideas and practices — educates present and future leaders to strengthen Connecticut’s businesses, the New England region, and our country’s global leadership.
