TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM

Teaching is by far one of the most rewarding and important professions of our time. Our world is changing, our students are changing, and there are too many students who are not receiving the education they need and deserve.

This begins with a rigorous and well-established program for learning to teach.

The Gevirtz School is guided by its unwavering commitment to improving the knowledge base about educational issues, providing professional development for the future leaders of public education, and ensuring high quality education for all our nation’s children.

The Gevirtz Graduate School of Education (GGSE) offers M.A.s and Ph.D.s from the Department of Counselling, Clinical and School Psychology and the Department of Education and M.Ed.s from the Teacher Education Program, which also prepares students for teaching credentials. The School also offers three undergraduate minors in Education, Applied Psychology, and Science & Mathematics Education.

The GGSE is part of University of California Santa Barbara, a member of the Association of American Universities, and located on the Pacific coast 90 miles north of Los Angeles.
