Program Description

BSc in Electronic Engineering

This subject area offers multidisciplinary teaching in electronics in all its aspects as well as its applications. The teaching provides a basis in analogue and digital electronics, which is necessary for an understanding of the study of various electronics systems. This allows students to acquire vital knowledge in computer science, mathematics and physics that is complementary to the teaching of electronics.

Opportunities

Further studies Eligibility for a scientific master’s degree in engineering with an electronics element at UPMC but also for other specialised master’s degrees in electronics, computer science, applied physics and engineering in France, the entire European Union and Switzerland. The subject area of electronics also allows one to enter, based on previous qualifications, certain engineering schools.

Professional integration Through professional training.

Organization The subject area of electronics is organised around a common core of courses completed by teaching units (TU) for your programme of study, free TUs and language TUs.

  • Common core TU: 81 ECTS in electronics but also in computer science, mathematics and physics for a complete scientific programme oriented toward electronics.

    • Programme of study TU: 24 ECTS to direct studies toward of the domains of application of electronics according to the tastes and plans of each student.
  • Free TUs: 9 ECTS chosen freely according to what can be accommodated in your timetable.

  • Language TU: 6 ECTS in English or another language. Three reference programmes of study, ensuring a coherent set of TUs, are offered. The electronics and physics programme offers a specialisation in the domains of telecommunications, instrumentation and microelectronics. The electronics and mechanics programme is intended for students who wish to focus on automation, robotics and process control. The electronics and computer science programme is intended for students who wish to follow a mixed programme of study leading to studies focused on industrial data processing, architecture and the design of integrated circuits. During L2, the teaching is above all based on the basics and fundamental notions and an introduction to one of the programmes of study is offered. During L3, students develop their knowledge in electronics and specialise in a programme of study. Level L2 Teaching is above all based on the basics and fundamental notions and an introduction to one of the programmes of study is offered. Level L3 Deepening of knowledge in electronics and specialisation in a programme of study.

    Well-targeted public

    • Entry into L2 is open to students who have done a programme of study in mathematics, computer science, mechanics, electronics (MIME) and physics, chemistry, mechanics, electronics (PCME) in the integration cycle at UPMC, or who have done an equivalent programme of study in another establishment.

  • Entry at level L3 assumes the acquisition of level L2, whether at UPMC or another university. Students who have done one or two years of preparatory classes for the grandes écoles, holders of a DUT and BTS and students who have done a multi-disciplinary scientific programme of study after the baccalauréat can enter at level L2 or L3 after their application has been examined.

About the School

In 2009, UPMC celebrated both the rehabilitation of the Zamansky tour and nine centuries of university activity on the site of the Saint Victor Abbey, renowned as a center of the Western intellectual renaissance, with a famous library and a training center for clerics.

This school, founded by Guillaume de Champeaux in 1109 , played a major role in the intellectual effervescence of the Latin Quarter for several centuries.

Grammar, rhetoric, dialectics, music, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy and even technology were all taught there.

After the Revolution, the site was occupied by various warehouses, then the “halle aux vins”, before being reintegrated into the world of research as a part of the Faculty of Science of the University of Paris in 1959.

Under André Malraux’s leadership, the decision on the Albert project and the tower were made in 1963. And nine hundred years later, UPMC continues the quest for knowledge of the highest order in the heart of Paris.

Faculties and institutes UPMC is composed of seven departments and faculties : chemistry, engineering, mathematics, medicine, physics, life sciences, earth sciences, environment, and biodiversity.

It also boasts an engineering school - Polytech'Paris UPMC, the Paris Astrophysics Institute, the Henri Poincaré Institute and 3 marine stations at Roscoff, Banyuls, and Villefranche-sur-Mer that have Universe sciences observatory (OSU) status.

Within the faculty of mathematics is ISUP, the premier school of statistics in France.

UPMC and the Val-d'Oise Yvelines chamber of commerce came together to create the first apprenticeship training body within a university framework: CFA UPMC.
