About the School

The foundation of the University of Naples Federico II dates back to the generalissimum licterum of the Swabian Emperor on June 5, 1224. It is divided into 3 Poles, 13 Faculties (Agriculture, Architecture, Economics, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Humanities, Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, Biotechnological Sciences, Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, Political Sciences and Sociology), 77 departments, 42 research and service centers, and 2 botanical gardens.

The University has 108 libraries, including one online and 12,000 computer stations. The educational offerings include 147 Degree Programs, 82 University Masters, 26 Doctoral Schools, and 77 Specialization Courses, as well as 69 Advanced Courses.

Federico II is the oldest public university in the world, renowned for the high qualification of its Faculties in both scientific and humanities fields, and it is the largest research center in Southern Italy. This ensures students a solid foundational preparation, regardless of the chosen field of study. The wealth of expertise present at the University allows for a broad and diversified education, suitable for providing students with stimulating cultural openings to present themselves in the job market with strong professionalism and an adequate critical spirit.

The great tradition of research has allowed Federico II to build solid networks of collaboration with foreign universities, with research centers, and with the productive world. Numerous internationalization projects are active at the University to allow students periods of study abroad, along with an Internship Office that organizes periods of training at companies.
