Program Description

What's the Musical Theatre course about?

This programme has been designed to prepare students for work in contemporary musical theatre and its related industries. Students are offered many opportunities, to explore, develop and refine the skills necessary for a potential career in performance, including television, film, session work, and cabaret.

Students are offered a selection of opportunities to individually explore the mechanics of each of the three key musical theatre disciplines (singing, acting, and dance) and, as part of an ongoing creative process, their respective combinations.

All the creative work is underpinned by the systems of physical action as laid out by Stanislavski and developed by Uta Hagen and in this sense, the course aims to produce actors who can sing and dance. The diversity and challenges of each year allow students to explore the full potential of their abilities within a creative and stimulating environment.

Students are assessed through a combination of practical work (80%) and written assessment (20%) - the course culminates in a 5000-word extended essay.
