Introduction In response to the ever-growing demand for quality business education at senior managerial level in mainland China, the Faculty of Business Administration introduces a postgraduate degree program - Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) - in China in cooperation with the School of Management, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in 2004. This EMBA program is strategically positioned in Western China (Xian, Chengdu) with an aim to nurture management talents who actively participate in the development of Western China as a result of the recent national policy and preferential investment policy.
The School of Management at Xi'an Jiaotong University, our mainland partner, would contribute part of the teaching faculty and programme administration in China. A strategic relationship is fostered across the strait via the extension of alliance with the School of Economics and Management at Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu, Sichuan and the College of Management at National Chiaotung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This alliance would create a platform for future academic exchanges and programme development between CUHK and the partners involved.
With successful completion of the programme and satisfactory fulfilment of CUHK Graduate School's requirements, participants will earn an Master of Business Administration Degree conferred by CUHK and a postgraduate diploma conferred by XJTU. To satisfy the AACSB-International accreditation requirements, two-thirds of this EMBA programme will be taught by full-time faculty members of CUHK. The programme offers a total of twenty-one courses carrying either 3 units or 1.5 units as specified in the programme structure. CUHK faculty members will be responsible for 33 units while SWJTU will covers a 3 units course and XJTU will cover 12 units of courses out of the total 48 units throughout the programme.
