First Professional Doctorate (DACM)

Our first professional doctorate is an exciting new degree program for people who wish to enter the acupuncture and Chinese medicine field at the doctoral level and do not have prior training in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

When acupuncture is an increasingly valued treatment in mainstream care for patient wellness, acupuncturists need to be equipped with the knowledge, communication, and research skills to work with other healthcare professionals effectively. Our Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) degree incorporates our master’s Chinese medicine curriculum, acupuncture therapeutics, herbal medicine, biomedicine, and clinical training with an additional focus on integrative and collaborative healthcare, research literacy, and evidence-informed practices.

Founded in 1980 in San Francisco, the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine at CIIS is one of the oldest, most prestigious Chinese medicine schools in the U.S. Distinguished faculty and a rigorous curriculum have established American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine as a truly exceptional program that brings in students from all over the world.

American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine offers master’s and doctoral degrees in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine as well as public programs and continuing education courses through CIIS.
