Program Description

The Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program is offered at two Twin Cities, Minnesota locations: MEM in Plymouth and Executive MEM in St. Paul.

MEM in Plymouth prepares you for a managerial role. The course content is suitable for all engineering disciplines, as well as those working in science, technology, and mathematics. You will learn from faculty who actively work with local companies.

For engineers wanting to pursue technical leadership roles, MEM is a great afforable STEM alternative to an MBA degree.

Program Highlights

  • The program is offered at St. Cloud State at Plymouth. The program is also available online in synchronous and asynchronous modes.
  • The program is designed for full-time students to complete the coursework in 12 months as well as part-time and online students to complete the program on a part-time basis in 18-24 months.
  • Graduates of the program are eligible for obtaining the American Society of Engineering Management's certified professional in engineering management certification, (CPEM), on graduation without having to sit for a separate examination.
  • Faculty partner with local industries to provide students with hands-on experience through through projects built into the course work.
  • International students have come to the program from Nepal, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Thailand, the Bahamas, Peru, Coloumbia, Brazil, and other countries.
  • Full-time students are eligible to apply for graduate assistantships and on-campus jobs. The program offers 12-14 part-time graduate assistantships each semester, each of which are worth around $5,000 in stipend and tuition fee waivers. Incoming students are ranked based on undergraduate GPA and returning students on the previous semester's GPA. Graduate assistantship appointments are made during week 1 of the semester in class, and are for 1 semester only. This allows the funding to be spread amoung more full-time on-campus students.
  • International students are eligible to start CPT on completion of 30 credits. Most full time international students are able to complete 30 credits in 1 year, then continue for up to 11.5 months of CPT for completing their capstone project. The MEM program is a STEM program and offers international students additional 2 years of STEM OPT on top of the 1 year of OPT.
