Our BA (Hons) in Theology validated by the University of Manchester offers not only academic excellence, but also a range of routes and patterns of study from which you can select to match your needs, interests and circumstances.
You may be a school leaver looking for somewhere to study for your first degree, you may wish to pursue a calling to Christian ministry and mission, you may wish to combine studying theology with working part-time in a church or other employment, or you may be interested in studying theology for your own personal spiritual growth and enrichment. There are two main routes through the BA course, Vocational and Open Option; and two patterns, Full-Time or Part-Time.
It was only six years after his own conversion in 1850 at the age of 16 that Charles Haddon Spurgeon founded the college that bears his name. A gifted preacher and communicator himself, he wanted to train others to share in the task of bringing the ‘Good News’ to a needy world. During his lifetime nearly 900 pastors trained at the College and almost 200 new churches were planted in Britain alone.
Spurgeon’s is an evangelical College in membership with the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Evangelical Alliance and the Micah Network. As a confessional College, it is committed to studying and understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ as witnessed to by the Scriptures, and the challenges of the world in which this gospel is to be proclaimed. In doing this it combines classical and contemporary emphases in theology and ministry in serving the Church. Academic programs will be offered in the light of the expectations and standards contained in the QAA Subject benchmark statement: Theology and Religious Studies and according to the principles stipulated by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).
