Program Description

The health promotion program is created for students interested in a public health career focused on the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive health promotion and disease prevention programs for diverse populations.

Coursework prepares you to pass the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, while a supervised field experience allows you to put your knowledge and skills into practice. You will leave this program ready to begin your career knowing how to promote individuals' health and the communities in which they live.

In the master's level health promotion concentration, students can expect to enter into a supervised field experience designed to immerse them in the public health discipline of health promotion and disease prevention, and give them valuable, real-world experience.

From there, graduates are ready to begin their public health career working on designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and disease prevention programs for individuals and for the communities in which they live. They will also be ready to pass the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, which will further job opportunities.
