Siena Heights offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Our General Math and Pre-Actuarial options were intended to prepare our graduates for careers in industry or for further study in graduate school.
The engineering field is becoming even more dependent on mathematics. Currently, most of our Pre-Engineering majors stay at Siena Heights as Math majors.
Math classes for majors are small, allowing our professors to provide all of the individual attention that our students might require. Plentiful office hours, student-centered faculty, large study areas with fully-equipped computers, and state-of-the-art Smart classrooms make learning personal, interesting, and interactive. We can get you started at whatever level suits your background, and take you on your journey right through to the degree of your choice.
Regardless of your specialty, the program will serve your needs.
The faculty is dedicated to exposing our students to the leading edge of technology. Regular use of modern learning technology, from state-of-the-art hand-held calculators to Smart technology to Computer Algebra Systems, assists our students with the exploration and visualization of concepts in courses at all levels.
There is an active section of the mathematics national honor society Pi Mu Epsilon and a Math Club. The organizations provide students an opportunity to meet more students who are interested in mathematics and to encounter more mathematical topics than appear in the general curriculum.
The clubs also are very active in community and school service with activities such as Family Math, visits to area high schools, and community service projects. The clubs also bring in speakers on various topics of interest to the students.

The name Siena honors St. Catherine of Siena, a 14th-century Italian Dominican who dedicated her life to a quest for truth and social responsibility. Similarly, the mission of the institution – to help students become more competent, purposeful, and ethical – grows out of the philosophy of Siena.
Throughout its history, Siena Heights has built a proud tradition of innovative responses to challenging social needs. Originally a college for women who intended to become teachers, Siena broadened its offerings over the years and by the 1950s was recognized as one of the nation’s 10 best liberal arts colleges for women.
The mission of Siena Heights University, a Catholic University founded and sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, is to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all.
