Why Study Entrepreneurship at SHIP?

Successful completion of the undergraduate entrepreneurship degree at Shippensburg University teaches you important skills for success in today's economy. You will learn to recognize opportunities and convert new ideas into business plans with a focus on implementation. The program is designed to help graduates understand risk and develop an entrepreneurial perspective to overcome challenges and achieve success.

The program also provides a thorough background in marketing, management and contemporary economic theory that can be useful in the workforce.

An entrepreneurship degree from Shippensburg University will prepare you for any one of the following career tracks:

  • Corporate entrepreneurship (intrapreneurship): Developing new operations or products for existing corporations
  • Independent entrepreneurship: Starting your own for-profit firm
  • Family business: Working for the family firm as a new or future management
  • Social entrepreneurship: Starting new or developing existing not-for-profit or community service oriented firms

Ship's entrepreneurship program has a 100 percent employment rate for graduates of the program. While participation is not mandatory for the completion of an entrepreneurship concentration, students earn one full credit hour for every equivalent of a 40-hour workweek they finish. Students can receive a maximum of nine credits.

These internship opportunities include family businesses, franchises, small businesses, and corporations where there is a need for entrepreneurial-minded individuals. Internships often turn into job offers, according to post-graduate surveys of Ship business students.
