Program Description

With our Associate of Science in Nursing degree, we can prepare you for the career that truly cares, one that makes a daily difference in people’s lives. Our goal is to teach you how to become a Registered Nurse by focusing not just on nursing skills, procedures and techniques, but also problem-solving, reasoning, and communication. Our nursing school is located at our beautiful campus in Salem, West Virginia, and offers a 22-month program for those who want to quickly and efficiently prepare to step into the healthcare field.

In our nursing program, you get the benefit of:

  • Professors with real experience who work side-by-side with students, providing individualized attention
  • Nursing suite and modern, high-tech simulation labs that offer you intensive, hands-on experience
  • A well-rounded education track that prepares you to provide excellent care to patients from all backgrounds at every age

Our 100% licensure (NCLEX) pass-rates for the past 5 years demonstrates that our nursing students are well prepared to provide safe, quality care for healthcare consumers.

Why Salem University for your RN Degree

Salem University’s nursing school is the best of both worlds: a focused degree program that also provides a foundation for further growth and learning. Students benefit from our small class sizes and our unique format, which means you take one course monthly (every 4 weeks), so you can fully focus on one instructional topic at a time.

We understand how important it is for nursing students to be able to practice the skills they are learning, which is why we offer so many opportunities for hands-on experiences through modern simulation equipment and simulated scenarios like you would encounter in a hospital or clinic. In addition, our clinical affiliations with dozens of healthcare facilities and organizations allow us to offer superior clinical experiences within a high-quality hands-on environment.

Since 1888, Salem University has been dedicated to producing graduates who are true global citizens and leaders, with the deductive reasoning skills, technological proficiencies, and multicultural and international awareness to make an impact in their chosen fields.

*Please note that clinical rotations for student nurses are very time-intensive. It is very difficult to prepare for an RN while working full-time.
