Overview

The MA International Fashion Marketing provides future fashion marketing managers and directors with the practical and intellectual skills to lead and succeed in the vibrant and fast-changing fashion industry.

Our MA programme has been developed in consultation with industry experts and designed to ensure that our graduates are best placed to capitalize on new opportunities presented by the most sustained period of creative disruption in fashion since the industrial revolution.

Technological innovation is challenging long-established fashion systems and changing the ways in which the industry markets itself globally.

Dynamic and fast-paced by nature, the industry is set to continue this period of disruption for the foreseeable future.

You will learn about the global fashion consumer and how sustainable fashion is changing marketing strategies.

Our programme will place you at the heart of the fashion-business revolution, located in central London, the heartland of fashion.

In addition, you will benefit from a study trip to Milan, included in the fees.

Structure

Length

On the MA International Fashion Marketing, you undertake three terms of study, each of which comprises 60 credits, with 180 credits in total.

Modules

Our module structure is organized according to the principle that a Regent’s education is intensive and intimate.

You will take modules concurrently each term, with a study trip to a European fashion capital during the year. While taking mandatory core modules, you will also be able to choose optional modules such as Trend Analysis, Fashion Buying & Distribution, a language or Luxury Goods. The optional modules enable you to pursue your interests so that you can graduate from the programme with an individual profile, ready to pursue your aspirations within international fashion marketing.

Teaching & assessment

Assessment structure

The programme draws on a wide range of assessment types to reflect the nature of the industry and to give you every opportunity to successfully demonstrate achievement on the programme, depending upon your learning style.

This includes essays, research activities, reports, presentations, reflective reports, panel critiques, interviews, group work, material outcomes and live projects. Alternative assessments are provided where possible for students with a registered disability.

You will also engage in self-assessment and peer assessment.

Study methods

The MA International Fashion Marketing is industry-orientated. Experiential learning is therefore fundamental to many of the learning and teaching methodologies used on the programme, and many of the assessments that you will complete. Preparation for your career is also integral to the design of the programme.

Lectures and seminars are the most common method of delivery. Whilst these operate on the assumption that you have little prior knowledge of the subject, there is an expectation that you will supplement the knowledge and skills acquired during contact time with your own additional independent learning. The programme is intensive and challenging, echoing the nature of the fashion industry.

You will be expected to attend lectures, seminars, workshops and presentations by guest speakers, all of which will provide you with a solid foundation for learning. At Regent’s, we believe that learning technology should be a supplement rather than a substitute for live teaching and personal learning exchanges. To supplement your studies, the material will be made available on your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Blackboard. We have a dedicated, award-winning Learning Technology Team who support our VLE.

In line with the industry focus of the programme, you will also have the opportunity to engage in practical learning activities such as fashion shoots, fashion show production, fashion styling and photography, and visits to industry events such as conferences, fashion weeks, exhibitions and other well-established industry happenings.

Among the other methods of learning on the programme are:

Induction

At the beginning of the programme, you will participate in an induction which will provide you with an overview of the programme and expectations for the year ahead. At the start of each module, you will be given a timetable and a reading list. Each module tutor will provide individual and group support for you during your module.

Guest speakers

Guest speakers are regularly involved in the programme to provide expert academic and practitioner input on your modules.

Masterclasses

Masterclasses enable you to learn from high-profile fashion and marketing practitioners in small groups, thereby giving you the opportunity to hone your fashion marketing knowledge and skills with professionals who work at a very senior level, while benefitting from the development of important networking skills.

Students with disabilities

Some classes are delivered in teaching rooms accessed via stairs. If you have a condition that affects your mobility and you require ground floor rooms or rooms with lift access you are advised to contact the Disability Officer.
