About the School

The Polytechnic University of Turin is the first engineering school in Italy, founded in the wave of renewal of the technical-scientific culture that saw the birth of the most prestigious polytechnics in Europe in the mid-19th century. Established in 1859 as the School of Application for Engineers, it became the Royal Polytechnic University of Turin in 1906. For over 160 years, the Polytechnic University of Turin has been training professionals in the fields of engineering, architecture, design, and urban planning with rigor, integrity, and high-quality standards.

A long journey in continuous evolution, which has accredited the University among the best technical universities in Europe for education and research, with 38,700 students and a faculty of about 1,000 teachers.

In a rapidly evolving global scenario, following the disruptive effects of phenomena such as globalization, climate change, population aging, and the emergence of new and increasingly pervasive technologies, the University must evolve to continue making an impact on the rapidly changing society. The Polytechnic therefore proposes itself as a "platform" University, permeable, inclusive, open to the world of professions and industry, and with a key role in innovation and continuous training processes, to become an increasingly driving force for the sustainable development of society.

Establishing robust supply chains that connect, in spatially contiguous areas, education, research, innovation, financial services, and the enhancement of intellectual property to create hubs of entrepreneurial development that attract large industry hubs, small and medium enterprises, start-ups, and root those who graduate from the University in the territory: this is one of the main lines of development of the Polytechnic.
