Understanding living organisms and their relationship to the environment is crucial to creating sustainable solutions for the future and conserving natural resources. The Master of Biosciences at Nord University educates scientists to have a fundamental understanding of the importance of sustainability and advanced knowledge of their chosen area of specialization.

Students can choose from specializations within aquaculture, genomics, livestock science, marine ecology, and terrestrial ecology. A Master's in Biosciences provides you with in-depth knowledge within a chosen biological field, but will also improve your critical thinking and analytical skills. During the project phase of the program, you will be a part of a local scientific research group, conducting an original piece of scientific research. Master students can investigate marine, terrestrial, and anthropogenic environments, gaining proficiency in the use of analytical tools in areas such as statistics and genomics.

This flexible study program provides advanced knowledge in biosciences with specializations available in the following five fields: aquaculture, genomics, marine ecology, terrestrial ecology, and livestock science. About the School

Nord University was established in 2016 through the merger of the University of Nordland, Nesna University College, and Nord-Trøndelag University College. We have around 200 study programmes, spread across 8 new and modern campuses. The Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture is located in Bodø and Steinkjer, important regions for marine and agricultural development. With our own research station, two research vessels, and access to Norway's 1st Biorefinery, we are leading the way in developments relevant to both Norway and the world.
