Program Description

Operations research is one of the significant fields of application of computer science and applied mathematics in industry. It brings together a set of methods, models, and computer and mathematical tools allowing, in general, to optimize the decision-making process in the Company. Operational research is, by nature, a discipline directly linked to industry, and its vital role in maintaining competitiveness should assert itself in the years to come and result in increased demand for young graduates in this field. This discipline has experienced significant progress in recent years, which requires a significant updating of training and justifies a specialized and high-level course.

This master allows the acquisition of theoretical and practical tools of the discipline. The training contains an essential part of initiation to scientific research. It aims to train graduates to model and solve complicated problems and develop fundamental and applied research in the field. It also provides students with the first approach to applications and learning about the most powerful software. A student at the end of M2, with the help of the teaching team, must specify his abilities and wishes as to whether or not to pursue a doctorate. The number of academic or industrial research teams and laboratories in France, and the importance of the challenges of progress in OR, suggest regular recruitment of researchers in the field.

Professional objectives:

Whether or not supplemented by a doctorate, students who have followed this training are appreciated in the professional environment for their dual competence in IT and Operational Research. Indeed, the practice of this discipline, if it is based today on high-performance software packages, also requires a good knowledge of modelling techniques, notions of complexity intrinsic to the problems, of the possible influence of the structure of a problem in the process of its resolution, the taking into account of the risk and the uncertainty. The Operational Research expert's work is, faced with an optimization problem, to take into account as best as possible all these aspects to offer a treatment process that is as efficient as possible and best suited to the requirements of the context of the study.

The massive support of professionals from the Ile de France region to the MPRO project constitutes a guarantee of graduates' professional futures.

About the School

The National School of Computer Science for Industry and Enterprise (ENSIIE) is one of the oldest schools to award a computer engineering degree.

ENSIIE has continued to evolve and offer students many courses, masters in dual courses, degree stays abroad or not in many countries with a strong awareness of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The training organized around the IT - Mathematics - Business Sciences triptych retains all its originality and responds to high-level and varied jobs in all business and industry sectors.

With IMT, ENSIIE integrates the largest engineering school group with national and international influence to increase its potential and attractiveness. With Paris-Saclay, students benefit, for example, from the masters that ENSIIE cooperates with the universities of Paris XI, Versailles St-Quentin and Evry and the grandes écoles of Polytechnique, ENSTA, Télécom Paristech, ENS Paris Saclay or CentraleSupelec.

ENSIIE offers cutting-edge and varied courses such as business intelligence, software engineering and security, virtual and augmented reality, video games, applied mathematics, finance, high-performance computing, big data, without forgetting artificial intelligence.

ENSIIE also offers you a course "innovation and business creation" common to TSP and IMT-BS, which allows you in the 3rd year to devote yourself entirely to the development of your project.
