The Counselor Education (CNS) Program at Murray State University is dedicated to providing quality education and training for individuals pursuing a profession in the field of counseling or school psychology. Program options include a Master of Arts in School Counseling and an Education Specialist with emphasis in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling or School Psychology, as well as related school counseling and school psychology endorsements. These programs are designed for persons with an academic and/or experiential background in the helping professions such as, but not limited to, education, social work, psychology, and communication disorders.
Professional Counseling is a dynamic and invaluable career in today’s world of mental health care and is a necessary and compatible companion to other mental health professions.
The mission of the College of Education and Human Services is to prepare future leaders, advocates, and practitioners through authentic, engaging, and student-centered academic programs for successful careers that positively impact communities.
The College of Education and Human Services represents an outstanding blending of the best in both formal and non-formal education programs. From elementary education to social work, from interdisciplinary early childhood education to communication disorders, from school counseling to criminal justice (to name only a few), this college has so much to offer our students and community. The synergy of our faculty and staff yields an abundance of remarkable offerings for our students! We invite you to view our web pages for additional information about all of our programs or to arrange a personal visit with faculty in Alexander Hall and John W. Carr Hall. Let us help you get to know us better!
