Program Description

The Nurse Anesthesiology DNP curriculum prepares nurses for advanced practice with the knowledge and skills to deliver safe and effective anesthesia care and assume leadership roles in the practice setting. Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) administer approximately 27 million anesthetics to patients in the United States each year.

In addition, CRNAs are the sole anesthesia providers in more than two-thirds of all rural hospitals in the United States, affording some 70 million rural Americans access to anesthesia, and they provide a significant amount of anesthesia in inner cities as well. CRNAs are qualified and permitted by state law or regulations to practice in every state of the nation and are eligible to sit for certification examination as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA).
