Program Description

Programme overview

The master’s programme in synthetic and analytical chemistry provides an advanced level of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills within the fields of analytical, organic, organometallic and coordination chemistry. Studies build on a previous grounding in chemistry and enable you to develop the ability to apply independent ideas to issues and problems in chemistry or its neighbouring fields. You will also be able to use and understand scientific publications and be able to independently plan, perform and critically evaluate experiments. The topics covered are important in many areas of chemistry and industry and include advanced separation techniques, chemical bond formation, the chemistry of transition metals and advanced methods of synthesis.

During the first year, courses within the fields mentioned above provide you with a suitable base for future studies in these or related subjects. In the second year, they choose Master’s degree project or projects in the fields mentioned above, which can be carried out at the university or in a company with a relevant research profile.
