Focusing on all aspects of what is relevant to future network experts, our Internet Security and Network Computing MSc provides a view on network architecture, protocols, security, performance, modeling, simulation and programming, as well as wireless networks.

The internet forms a paradigm shift in the way the world operates and communicates. This has huge significance for the future, and a solid understanding of internet technology can lead on to an ever-increasing variety of stimulating careers.

At Loughborough University, our department of Computer Science has a reputation for innovative research and industry engagement, with leading UK and international companies providing regular input to curriculum development, career advice and additional teaching resources - ensuring what we teach is geared to meet the challenges of this rapidly evolving science. The department has a dynamic, active and internationally renowned research culture with academic staff and researchers currently researching all aspects of networking and communications from mathematical theory to the creation and operation of networked systems.

This expertise informs our cutting-edge MSc in Internet Security and Network Computing, which is taught through a combination of lectures, seminars, presentations, tutorials, industrial guest lectures and computer-based self-managed materials in conjunction with laboratory exercises as applicable.

Throughout our Internet Computing and Network Security programme, you will learn in the excellent study environment the department is able to provide. You will have access to six computer laboratories that boast triple boot (Windows/Linux/MacOs) computers. In addition, you will have access to the labs which offer 24-hour access, as well as support from a team of systems specialists. The building also provides modern study rooms, seminar rooms, specialist labs and breakout spaces for group work and collaboration.

Part of the Internet Computing and Network Security programme is an individual project, completed under supervision, that enables you to apply the latest research and developments in the field to the solution of a complex, practical problem.

Entry requirements

An honours degree (2:2 or above) or equivalent overseas qualification in Computer Science or an allied discipline which includes programming and networking.

English Language Requirements

All applicants for admission to Loughborough University must have a qualification in the English Language before they can be admitted to any course or programme, whether their first language is English or not.

IELTS: overall 6.5 with minimum 6.0 in each component.
