Program Description

The Bachelor of Music (BM) program is a 12 quarter full-time program. Three majors are available for the BM degree, Music Performance, Music Production and Composition. The Music Performance major offers emphases in Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocal. The Music Production major offers an emphasis in Music Producing & Recording, and the Composition Major offers an emphasis in Songwriting.

As much as it is about composition, songwriting, engineering, and arranging, music production is really about managing a process. The Music Producing & Recording major teaches students the historical and technical background they need to compete in the world of production, but also develops the necessary tools and techniques needed to take ideas to the next level. The Music Producing & Recording Major prepares you to effectively work alone or in groups, with elements of every facet of production under your belt, with experience working both at L.A.C.M.’s state-of-the-art “Garage Recording Studio” at L.A.C.M. and “The Hobby Shop” studios owned and operated by program faculty member and multi-platinum selling producer Andrew “Mudrock” Murdoch. L.A.C.M. is at an advantage being located in the Los Angeles area, as it has access to the busiest production community in the world.

Courses are specially sequenced to maximize learning potential throughout the program. Each course meets for the number of credits specified each quarter. Each program encompasses a different amount of intensive study: Bachelor Program (12 quarters), A.A. Program (6 quarters), and Diploma Program (4 quarters).
