The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) program is a 12 quarter full-time program. Three majors are available for the B.M. degree, Music Performance, Music Production, and Composition. The Music Performance major offers emphases in Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocal. The Music Production major offers an emphasis in Music Producing & Recording, and the Composition Major offers an emphasis in Songwriting. The curriculum at L.A.C.M. combines theory, reading, musicianship and practical live playing to help bass players develop a firm grip on harmonic movement, time, and groove, while also finding quick access to the subtleties of many genres.
Bass majors develop skills to become all-around musicians, learning to master sight reading, composition, arrangement, and recording technique, while also developing a strong familiarity with the music business. Courses are specially sequenced to maximize learning potential throughout the program. Each course meets for the number of credits specified each quarter. Please note that Ensemble Workshop (E.W.) credits may vary based on enrollment per class. Each program encompasses a different amount of intensive study: Bachelor Program (12 quarters), A.A. Program (6 quarters), and Diploma Program (4 quarters).
