Program Description

About

Students pursuing the Biomedical Technology degree learn basic and applied biomedical and advanced sciences which allow them to perform and evaluate test results in a research or pharmaceutical setting.

The 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Technology prepares students for career positions in the bioscience industry (biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life systems, project leadership or forensic pathology). Biomedical Technology students take a varied group of courses that allow them to perform a research project either on the campus or with another professional laboratory site of their choosing. Students take course prerequisites that may be utilized for entry into professional schools of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry or pursue other doctoral degree routes.

Admissions Requirements

  • Incoming freshmen must have a solid B average (3.0 or 82-85 grade point average) and an average SAT score of 1000 (Critical Reading and Math combined) or ACT Composite of 20 or above.
  • Transfer students must have completed more than 24 college credits. A minimum college G.P.A. of 2.0 is required for application review. If you have completed fewer than 24 credits, you must also submit high school transcripts and SAT/ACT scores.
  • Transfer students must submit official transcript(s) from all colleges or universities attended and two letters of recommendation preferably from former science professors. Both transfer students and starting sophomores at LIU Post must follow these requirements.

Applicants to the B.S. in Biomedical Technology may be contacted for a personal interview.
