Throughout the Master Transcultural Design / China Studio students will learn to decipher the local behaviors and understand the Chinese market to offer a coherent project, adapted to users, with an anthropological approach to design. This program is a stepping stone to an international designer career.
Program in partnership with the Fineart college of Shanghai University
The Master programs, established over two years, are organized in four semesters validated by 30 ECTS each. A consequent and increasing personal working time is expected for each module.
Shanghai is a strategic location to develop an intercultural design because of its dynamism and its recent evolution. It also represents a great field of observation and experimentation for understanding and internalizing Chinese codes and uses. Students conduct their master studies from within the realm of their design discipline, and with a spirit of integration into an Asian context. During applied projects conducted with local partner companies, students form interdisciplinary design teams working on real assignments for Asian clients.
The Master's Degree in Design delivered after the successful completion of the two years leads to the Master’s level degree in design , certified by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research and registered in the Registre National des Certifications Professionnelles (the French directory for vocational qualifications or RNCP) as a Level 7 Master’s degree.
Founded in 1988 and recognized by the State, the school is a non-profit organization. L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is an active member of various academic networks and professional organizations: Conférence des Grandes Écoles (top-tier French higher education institutions), Campus France and was awarder the "Bienvenue en France" label by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The school’s project is based on four values embodying our vision of design:
Our main duty is to teach design either via a standard curriculum work-based programs or via continuing education, with around 1760 students in September 2022. As a professional school, L’École de design has built a pedagogical program based upon close ties with companies to facilitate the professional integration of our alumni. The research activity within our Design Labs dedicated to innovation, ensures the expertise required for a postgraduate degree in design.
L’École de design centers its expertise on socio-economic issues, by combining teaching, experimental research and support with innovation, within its Design Labs which develop design research programs within dedicated chairs.
We also carry out a mission of services to companies and promotion of design: internships, apprenticeship contracts, prospective studies, collaborative projects, organization of thematic events, monitoring and advice. For many years, our students have been awarded prizes in prestigious competitions. The successful careers pursued by our graduates are a good proof of the quality of our teaching methods.
