Study Options

We understand that normal life has changed post-pandemic, with home working becoming the norm, continued travel restrictions globally and economic implications all contribute to our availability to be present for in-person learning, which is why we have two study options to choose from for our part-time, online MA Digital Management program.

Option 1: Online, 100%

The entire program will be delivered online. You will be a part of a diverse, global cohort yet with the convenience of studying from your home. Zero travel is required.

Option 2: Blended Learning, 90% online, 10% in person

90% of the program will be delivered online, with 10% (estimated 8 days) of the program being delivered in person at one of our Hyper Island locations across Europe.

The 10% in person breakdown is as follows:

  • 3x day residential at the start of the program
  • 2x day team building and ideation session at the midpoint of the program
  • 3x day graduation and celebration session at the end of the program

This option allows for the convenience of home study yet with in-person sessions throughout the program to take advantage of peer-to-peer learning, team alignment, and collaboration.

Commitment to attend these in-person sessions would be a course requirement when applying.

About the School

We empower people to make change happen.

Hyper Island creates learning experiences for individuals and organizations that help them shape the future. This is what we call The Hyper Island Way™.

Doing.

The Hyper Island Way™ is about doing. Change is hard and change is constant so you need to learn to continuously learn. And this you will do by making, creating, testing, and building. You will need to be curious and daring. You need to question and challenge status quos. And you’ll need to be explorative and up to try new things. This is the type of people we make at Hyper Island. If you are willing to lean in and rise to the challenge, you will grow and find the confidence to be what’s next.

Being.

The Hyper Island Way™ is also about being. That means it begins by understanding that change starts with you. Your values, your beliefs, and your purpose are important components. Change is hard and change is constant and you really need to be able to lead yourself first and foremost to handle it. You also need to understand yourself to lead others. And you need to be open to different perspectives to handle the ever-increasing disruption driven by technology.

The world is an exceedingly complex place.

But you are not alone, and you shouldn’t be. To manoeuvre this complexity you need others. Team is crucial. And a team built on trust where everyone is seen and heard is everything. These types of teams are built through The Hyper Island Way. And these types of teams are fundamental for driving innovation - and creating wonders. Changing the world takes more than everything any one person knows, but not more than we know together.

So let's work together!

Learn by making, to make real impact happen.

We are constructionists who encourage learners to make things together; prototypes, models, plans, pitches to help tackle these challenges. We believe learning happens when people make things together. Learning is most effective when, part of an activity, the learner experiences constructing a meaningful product.

We provide the tools and/or a construction kit of parts (models, software, games) to support our learners to create, explore, and imagine.

Our Values

Hyper Island’s diversity, inclusion, and belonging

Our vision is to fill the world with life-long learners and in these times, it is more important than ever.

As educators, we don’t profess to tell our students unshakable truths. Instead, we challenge them to break blinkered acceptance, by questioning everything they hear, read and see. Because it is through this reflection, we learn what we are getting right and where we are going wrong.

The events sparked by George Floyd’s tragic death have forced us to apply our belief in critical thinking to ourselves.

We are a school whose accepted code of conduct is based on fairness, inclusion, and diversity, but after extensive debate and individual reflection, we realize that there is more we can do in these areas — much more, in fact.

We fully recognize that we are an organization with many co-workers coming from a privileged background. And although there is diversity in gender, age, and sexual orientation, we have a long way to go in terms of socioeconomic and racial diversity. This realization swiped the rug from under our feet and jolted us into action.

We are using tools like effective feedback, non-violent communication, polarity management, and self-reflection to identify measures we can take to further improve inclusivity and representation among our co-workers, industry speakers, and students. With our students, we are listening to feedback and taking guidance from outside our current filters to make sure we truly make the right changes.

As lifelong learners, we have started this journey that will never end because we don’t want it to. We can always be better and do better. Ultimately, there is plenty of room for improvement to develop and ensure equality of opportunity as well as decreasing bias in our recruitment and operations. We hope this action will cause the positive ripple effects the world needs right now.
