requirements

  • General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or
  • Technical college entrance qualification or
  • Master's degree or an equivalent professional training or technical school examination (more information from the General Student Advisory Service) or

A pre-study internship of 8 weeks must be completed by the end of the fourth semester.

It is recommended to complete the course 4 weeks before the start of the course if possible.

The content of the pre-study internship should be based on the following key areas:

  • Basic skills of manual metalworking
  • Machining parts, measuring and testing
  • Activities in the company-specific production area

Summary

The course is divided into the study of the compulsory modules (1st to 4th semester), elective modules (5th and 6th semester) and the internship as well as the preparation of the bachelor thesis in the 7th semester.

The course begins with basic scientific subjects and basic subjects in technology. From the 5th semester onwards, in addition to some compulsory modules, there are mainly elective modules on offer. From their canon, you can put together a training direction according to your personal inclinations. In addition to technical subjects, business and general subjects are also included. A project work, either in the 5th or 6th semester, gives you a first insight into scientific work. You can write the bachelor thesis both in industry and at the university.

You can consolidate and deepen the knowledge you have acquired in our modern specialist laboratories, PC pools, CAD laboratories and in the complex laboratory for alternative energies.

The aim of the practice-oriented study, which is based on scientific principles, is the training for a Bachelor of Engineering, which finds its field of activity in industry, in business and in public service. Mechanical engineering as one of the classic fields of study in engineering sciences opens up an extremely wide range of applications. The areas of activity research and development, system planning, consulting, project planning, construction, work preparation, manufacture and assembly, commissioning, operational organization and monitoring, quality assurance, testing, customer service represent only an incomplete guide to the diverse application possibilities. To the diverse requirements of modern industrial society Doing justice to the enormous pressure to innovate requires solid basic knowledge on the one hand and the ability to react quickly to new challenges on the other.

The teaching of appropriate methodological skills, using modern computer technology, combined with a particularly application-oriented training, enables graduates of the mechanical engineering course to work successfully as a Bachelor of Engineering in an important area of social value creation.

Innovation Motor to Counteract the Lack of Experts

The student project teams, Baltic Racing and ThaiGer, for example, develop racing cars at the highest level. Recently, HOST was even able to celebrate a European Championship title. The student business consultants at SUS support companies throughout the region. Carpe Diem e.V. organizes parties, cultural events, and the legendary Campusspektakel. The campus offers a wide range of sporting activities. And of course, the University has its own sailing club. And don't forget: the nearest sandy beach is just a five-minute walk from the campus…
