Year 3 entry only

BSc Digital Design (Graphics) develops specialist skills in the creation of visuals and graphics for digital solutions such as web and mobile applications or motion graphics.

This programme will prepare you for creative roles in the expanding digital industry. By undertaking studio-based projects, you will realise your design ambitions using industry standard design and prototyping software. Throughout the programme, you will acquire the necessary technology skills and user-centered design thinking to create digital solutions for a variety of media including websites, motion graphics and mobile applications.

You will be introduced to user psychology and learn how to apply techniques and skills in user experience and user interface design to create functional and beautiful digital products. You will also have the opportunity to understand how design can have social impact and learn how to apply your skills to tackle challenging issues facing today's society.

The programme provides opportunities to partner with industry and enterprise on real and/or simulated design briefs ensuring that you experience the culture, pace and demands of industry and are well prepared for employment.

Your career

Among the exciting and varied career opportunities for graduates of this course are Graphic Designer, Digital Designer, UX designer, UI designer, UX researcher, Social Media Designer and Motion Graphic Designer.

International student start dates

For new international students, orientation events start on 14 September 2018. This extra time is specifically designed to assist new international students in settling into the UK and GCU prior to the start of general student induction and teaching.

There will be a whole host of fun and informative activities taking place during this period, including campus and city tours, as well as welcome events where you can meet other international students.

Study abroad

Students have the opportunity for International Exchange. This could be for one trimester or a whole year study at another institution, often at one of our European partners, where courses are offered in English. Currently students taking this option do so at Year 3 and gain credits towards their degree.

The Department of Computer, Communications and Interactive Systems (CCIS) is led by Professor Tom Buggy and consists of Communication Networks & Security Engineering, Computer and Electronic Systems Engineering, Digital Media Design, Interaction Design & Engineering and Software Engineering.
