  • Crowd financing: raise and manage funds for startups through a blockchain
  • Prediction in financial markets: apply A.I. and machine learning tools to model and predict asset values and returns
  • Unstructured data in business: use machine learning to understand unstructured data such as texts and images, and help with business and investment decisions
  • Peer-to-peer insurance: build decentralized insurance solutions based on smart contracts
  • Real estate transactions: streamline various steps of real estate transactions on a blockchain

Get Closer to Business

  • Financial Leadership Symposia . The semiannual Financial Leadership Symposium is comprised of panels of C-suite executives, entrepreneurs, and finance professionals who expose students to best business practices, emerging trends, and the future of business. Moderated by our Executive in Residence, a C-suite executive in two Fortune 500 companies and in a private equity turnaround, past topics of the Symposia include M&A, the future of banking, private equity, FinTech, asset/wealth management, and diversity in finance. Following the panel discussion, students interact with our guests in a networking reception.
  • Mentor Program . Students can receive an executive mentor to provide career advice and business connections. Mentors include C-suite executives at firms such as Georgia Pacific , Turner Broadcasting , BlueLynx , Churches Chicken , Printpack , and Oglethorpe Power .
  • Financial Leadership Network . The Financial Leadership Network (FLN), affiliated with the Department of Finance, provides students with access to leading firms in Atlanta such as Equifax, Mohawk Industries , Intercontinental Hotel Group , Georgia Pacific , Westrock , Mueller Water Products , PrimeRevenue, and Alvarez & Marsal . The FLN is a conduit to the finance community and a source of mentors, connections, and professional opportunities.
  • Financial Leader of the Year (FLY) Awards . The Finance Department sponsors the FLY Awards , an annual event that recognizes outstanding leaders in the finance community and helps connect students with “movers and shakers” in Atlanta finance.
  • Financial Leadership Course . Led by our Executive in Residence, the Financial Leadership Course focuses on career and human capital development through mentoring, career assessment testing, and interaction with executive speakers.
