Program Description

Master of Science, Civil Engineering – Statesboro

Degree Requirements : 30 Credit Hours

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering is designed to accommodate the needs of students interested in advanced study. We educate students with industry-ready skills coupled with innovative and cutting-edge research knowledge within their field of interest.

Civil engineers plan, design, construct, operate, test and maintain society’s infrastructure components such as roads and bridges, shipping terminals and ports, skyscrapers and tunnels, and reservoirs and water treatment plants. Every day, no matter where you live, you benefit from something designed by a civil engineer.

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree program (MSCE) at Georgia Southern prepares students with the advanced technical knowledge and skills needed to propel your career in the vital area of infrastructure.

The program serves both full-time students preparing for a career as a civil engineering professional and currently employed professionals seeking advanced education to augment their existing skills and background.

Our MSCE comprises technical coursework and a thesis or non-thesis track in five main areas:

  • Construction Engineering
  • Environmental/Water Resources Engineering
  • Transportation-Pavement/Geotechnical Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Surveying-Geomatics

About the School

With more than 27,000 students, approximately 140 different degree programs, and three campuses with a single vision of growing others, Georgia Southern University is already moving and ready for more. The historic brick streets or moss-dripping oak trees may make our picturesque campuses seem pristine, but there’s a lot of roll-up-your-sleeves work going on here. Research is focused on community impact. Teaching is focused on the students. And the students are focused on their future.

Since 1906, the University’s hallmark has been a culture of engagement that bridges theory with practice, extends the learning environment beyond the classroom, and promotes student growth and life success. Central to the University’s mission is the faculty’s dedication to excellence in teaching and the development of a fertile learning environment exemplified by a free exchange of ideas, high academic expectations, and individual responsibility for academic achievement. Faculty, staff, and students embrace core values of collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, openness and inclusion, and sustainability.
