Program Description

Doctor of Clinical Psychology, Psy.D. – Statesboro

Degree Requirements : 114-124 Credit Hours

We have more than 900 undergraduate students pursuing bachelor’s degrees, and over 60 graduate students enrolled in master’s or doctoral programs. At the undergraduate level, 700 students are enrolled in the B.S. degree at our Statesboro Campus, and 200 students are in the B.A. or B.S. degree programs at our Armstrong Campus in Savannah, which also offers a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Majors learn the foundational knowledge of psychology, exploring the breadth of the field’s research through our comprehensive (Statesboro) or experimental (Armstrong) degree tracks. Our new neuroscience track offers B.S. students at Armstrong the chance to gain an understanding of psychology’s connections with biology and chemistry.

The B.A. at Armstrong Campus provides students with a minor that complements their educational and career goals. Students leave our undergraduate program with a foundational understanding of psychological science and its application, including data analysis, writing, and critical thinking. With these skills they are prepared to enter the work force or pursue graduate study in psychology or related fields.

About the School

With more than 27,000 students, approximately 140 different degree programs, and three campuses with a single vision of growing others, Georgia Southern University is already moving and ready for more. The historic brick streets or moss-dripping oak trees may make our picturesque campuses seem pristine, but there’s a lot of roll-up-your-sleeves work going on here. Research is focused on community impact. Teaching is focused on the students. And the students are focused on their future.

Since 1906, the University’s hallmark has been a culture of engagement that bridges theory with practice, extends the learning environment beyond the classroom, and promotes student growth and life success. Central to the University’s mission is the faculty’s dedication to excellence in teaching and the development of a fertile learning environment exemplified by a free exchange of ideas, high academic expectations, and individual responsibility for academic achievement. Faculty, staff, and students embrace core values of collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, openness and inclusion, and sustainability.
