Program Description

The Exercise Science program integrates the theories and practicalities of exercise physiology in preparing graduates for a career in the field of health and fitness. This is achieved through an understanding of the science of human movement and physiology, coupled with essential hands-on experiences that culminate in an internship in a health/fitness facility. Students in the Exercise Science program have the opportunity to actively participate in faculty and student research projects, thus expanding their professional knowledge and abilities, and preparing them for the expectations of advanced study in Exercise Science and health-related fields.

The Exercise Science program prepares graduates for entry into the field of Exercise Science, graduate coursework, and professional school by developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills through a scaffolding of coursework using traditional lectures and hands-on based learning.

The Exercise Science Major has 2 Concentrations

Exercise Physiology

The Exercise Physiology concentration focuses on the preparation for allied health degrees (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Medicine, Physician Assistant, Chiropractic, Athletic Training, and more).

Kinesiology

The Kinesiology concentration is designed to prepare students for the application of the Exercise Science degree in personal, community, and corporate leisure, fitness and wellness industries, sports team applications, coaching, personal business, or outdoor recreation settings. It will require a minor which will allow students to tailor their degree to their professional goals.
