The Master in Photographic Production and Storytelling will train you to be an author responsible for the creation of images and applied narrative in still photography and in the artistic direction of photographic productions.
The Master is clearly focused on photographic creation, editing and production and is fed back and complements ESCAC's extensive previous experience in the film sector, providing as a great novelty the hybridization of photographic and film formats.
The Master is made up of theoretical-practical subjects, workshops and masterclasses divided into 3 quarterly modules with a duration of 9 months in total.
With the content that is developed in each of the modules, the student must be able to carry out various practices and produce the Final Master's Thesis (TFM) in its different formalizations.
The objective is to give the student creative and conceptual autonomy, focusing on a critical and contemporary look that transcends the single image to arrive at new narrative imaginaries that allow a professional approach from the production and dissemination of any type of photographic project to the editing and publication of a photobook. Through the most current editing and desktop publishing tools and artistic research processes, the Master's student will create their own language.
The student will have to conceptualize, edit and produce a variety of projects guided by the best professionals in the sector, authors of national and international prestige, theorists and specialists in the new pedagogies of the image.
To be faithful to the photochemical tradition of ESCAC, the Master's student will carry out advanced laboratory practices and will know multiple photographic and cinematographic formats to have mastery of both analog and digital production processes. Knowing and experiencing these processes in depth is an invitation to reflect on the same photographic-cinematographic medium and its most recent history.
Photographic formats: Digital, 35mm, 120mm and large format.
Film formats: Digital, S8, 16mm and 35mm.
The Superior School of Cinema and Audiovisual of Catalonia was founded in 1993 from the studies of the Professional Formation of Image and Sound of the Calassanç Center.
ESCAC is a member of the International Center of Liaison des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévisión (CILECT), an organization that brings together 120 specialized training centers in the field of audiovisual creation, and a founding member of the Groupement Européen des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévisión ( GEECT) and the Federation of Schools of Image and Sound of Latin America (FEISAL).
Did you know that Javier Ruiz Caldera is still shooting his films with fellow ESCAC members? The same as Juan Antonio Bayona, Mar Coll, Kike Maíllo, Patricia Font ... Because ESCAC does not end when you finish your studies, the Community continues in the professional sector.
From your first weeks at school, you will get used to working on projects and setting up your work teams, which in most cases will accompany you throughout your professional career.
At school we encourage work by projects, in teams and with technical rigor.
Students work as a team with the aim of collaborating with each other and thus contribute to a common project. Developing the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and multicultural teams. All this will allow you to develop your talent in an environment where creative spaces and interaction between graduates of different promotions are promoted.
The Student Support service, aimed at both future students and students, is formed by the coordinators of the studies and aims to advise and guide students throughout the training period through interviews and personalized attention adjusted to the circumstances, needs and characteristics of each student.
If there is any doubt, complaint or query about the academic-administrative functioning of the center, the student may request an interview with the Student Advocate. This figure, in case of not being able to attend or resolve the matter, will refer the case to the Head of Studies, who has the power to raise it before the competent bodies established by the Internal Regulations of the center.
