Major fields of study

robotics

The elective focus on robotics in the Mechatronics course (B.Eng.) Consists of the two modules

Robotics and programming Tool design for robots

In the "Robot technology and programming" module, in-depth knowledge of robot classification, coordinate systems in the work area, control concepts, programming concepts (teach-in, play-back, offline, simulation) is imparted taking into account standards, regulations and security mechanisms. The focus is on operational preparation, commissioning, programming and targeted troubleshooting with appropriate test tools. The goal is to select, program and optimize robots according to the specific requirements of the system.

The module "Tool conception for robots" provides in-depth knowledge of the parameters and special features of tool concepts and tools for robot use as well as various options for the use of individual and complex robotics solutions. The focus is on automatic tool changing systems. The aim is to plan manufacturing processes and workflows from the point of view of optimal robot utilization and to design individual tools, such as gripper systems, from the point of view of production technology.

Automotive systems

The elective focus on automotive systems in the Mechatronics course (B.Eng.) Consists of the two modules

  • Automotive electronics
  • Factory simulation

The "Automotive Electronics" module provides in-depth knowledge of the structure, use and diagnosis of function modules and complex systems within a vehicle electrical system. The focus is on methods such as FMEA analysis. The aim of the module is to understand electronic function modules, to analyze, to implement and to optimize interlinking of electronic function modules. The following content is taught in detail:

Basics of automotive electronics and electronics Basics of electronic systems in motor vehicles Selected electronic systems (function, implementation) FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) of electronic systems in vehicles

The module "Factory Simulation" provides in-depth knowledge of model building and exemplary implementation of a factory simulation as advance planning for real production facilities.
