The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program is designed for registered nurses looking to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Emphasis is placed on the development of health assessment across the lifespan with culturally appropriate methods. Graduates will practice evidence-based nursing for the managing of acute and chronically ill patients across the lifespan. The baccalaureate-prepared nurse will be a change agent and exhibit the ability to transition patients from one health care setting to another. The baccalaureate nurse recognizes the relationship of genetics and genomic health in prevention, screening, prognostics, selection of treatment, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and end of life care. The baccalaureate nurse will communicate effectively with the health care team, their patients, and their families to deliver patient/family-centered care.
Students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will complete blended clinical hours in Alaska.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program is designed for registered nurses with a minimum of an associate degree from an accredited post-secondary institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Upon successful completion of this program, graduates should be able to:
Describe, contrast, and evaluate different management and leadership styles;
Identify opportunities and develop strategies for improving the quality of healthcare delivery, including elements of safety, efficiency, and population diversity;
Apply critical thinking skills in decision-making activities related to the legal, ethical, and cultural aspects of health care;
Demonstrate the importance of collaboration, professionalism, and communication skills in a variety of settings;
Analyze and evaluate opportunities for the development and growth of the professional nurse;
Formulate a strategic plan for an organizational change.
