Canisius College is the premier private university in Western New York, one of 28 Jesuit, Catholic colleges in the nation and is consistently ranked among the top regional colleges in the Northeast. Founded in 1870 by German Jesuits, Canisius College is named for St. Peter Canisius, a renowned Dutch educator and one of the original members of the Society of Jesus. What began in a single building in downtown Buffalo now consists of 56 buildings located on 72 acres in a residential neighborhood in North-Central Buffalo.

Accounting Graduates No. 2 in New York Graduates of the Canisius accounting program, annually one of the nation’s best programs, had the 2nd highest pass in New York State. The pass rate was 78 percent among Canisius graduates.
Overall Graduate School Acceptance Rates More than 90 percent of the Canisius students who apply to graduate school are accepted. Graduate School Acceptance Rate for Law and Medical SchoolsNine of 10 Canisius students who apply to law and medical schools are are accepted.
US News & World Report “America’s Best Colleges” For the second consecutive year, Canisius earned its highest ranking in college history with the 20th spot in the top tier of U.S. News and World Report’s2012 rankings of America’s Best Colleges, Regional Universities – North. Consistently ranked among the top regional colleges, Canisius also moved up four spots in “Great Schools, Great Prices” category for regional universities in the north.
Forbes America’s Top Colleges Canisius was named to Forbes’ 2012 ranking of the 650 best undergraduate institutions for quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt.
