The Boston University School of Hospitality Administration’s Master of Management in Hospitality is a graduate-level program that prepares you for success anywhere in the world in the hospitality industry. And, you can do it in just one, three-semester year.

For students with a strong business or liberal arts background, the program will enhance your management skills and prepare you to begin careers in hospitality leadership, whether here in the United States or around the world. Professionals currently working in the hospitality industry will gain the necessary education to advance your careers and be competitive and knowledgeable in the changing industry.

Our hundreds of restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, and other hospitality businesses, as well as international connections, offer training and career opportunities unlike any other city.

The curriculum

The MMH curriculum consists of 32 credits and one experiential-based hospitality internship. The pathways is Full-time, residential—one summer semester and two full semesters.

Application Requirements

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of $95. The application fee is an application processing fee, not an application consideration fee.

Transcripts

We require a copy of your undergraduate transcript to be uploaded within our online application. In addition, we require all transcripts from colleges and/or universities attended that count toward any degree (beyond high school). A college senior should submit an official report of work completed in the first semester of the senior year as soon as it is available. All transcripts must be in English or an official translation. If you are admitted and decide to enroll, we will ask for an official copy at that time.

Letters of Recommendation (Evaluations)

We require two letters of recommendation (evaluations) written by people who know you well, and who can speak to your academic and/or professional backgrounds. These letters of recommendation must be sent online via our application service. We do not accept e-mailed, faxed, or mailed letters of recommendation.

International Applicants

Students who received their undergraduate degree from a non-English speaking institution must also take the TOEFL (in addition to the GRE). We require a minimum score of 84 for your application to be reviewed. We must receive an official TOEFL score by our deadline; we recommend taking your TOEFL at least 20 days prior to our deadline to assure that we receive the score.

Our TOEFL code is 3087.

Resume/CV

We require the most up to date resume or CV for all applicants.

Required Standardized Tests

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) Our GRE and GMAT code is 3087. You may take the internet-based GRE up until 10 days before our deadline.

Please note – the standardized test requirement can be waived for students who meet certain application requirements.

Personal Statement

Write a 500-750 word personal statement of objectives for undertaking graduate study with an indication of desired career focus.

Transfer Credits:

Up to 8 credits of graduate transfer credits may be granted on a case-by-case basis.

Graduate Admissions

Our one-year Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) serves as a launch-pad into hospitality leadership careers. Whether you are an undergraduate from liberal arts, or non-hospitality focused major, or a current hospitality professional that wants to remain competitive, the MMH will enhance their business skills both in the classroom and during a 400-hour internship.
