Program Description

If theatre is your thing, our bachelor’s degree program in theatre will help you become a well-rounded artist. Our theatre students work on five major productions on the Harman Auditorium stage each year. Productions range from two children’s theatre offerings to literary classics and Christian drama. As a theatre major, you’ll learn essential skills in rigorous coursework and through hands-on opportunities in production, design, and construction.

Theatre is a collaborative art form bringing together a tight-knit group of student-artists who enjoy personal attention from our faculty. As theatre practitioners, we are as energized by sharing our craft as we are moved by guiding students. While few theatre majors achieve Hollywood or Broadway success, no matter where they study, Bluefield’s theatre degree prepares you to follow your passion. After graduation, you might produce children’s theatre, perform in a regional repertory company, teach drama or attend graduate school. It’s time to see where theatre can take you. It’s time to explore all that BC’s theatre major has to offer. We’d love to meet with you when you visit campus!

About the School

Bluefield College is a Christ-centered learning community developing servant leaders to transform the world.

Christians identify Jesus Christ as the model servant leader. Christ shared that he came not to be served but to serve. In addition to living a life exhibited by the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, a servant leader is humble and allows his/her words and deeds to speak for themselves. Ultimately, a servant leader desires to live a life of significance and to make a difference in the lives of others.

Servant leadership is being a servant first, letting the natural feeling to serve others come first, and then through conscious choice bringing one to aspire to lead. This manifests itself in that the servant leader makes sure that other people’s highest needs are being served.
