Program Description

The aim of the master’s degree in Urban Mobility is to improve urban mobility in our cities and around the world. This requires not just improvements in technical infrastructure (towards intelligent transport infrastructure, the Internet of Things, etc.) but also holistic planning, execution, and operation. Urban transformation obliges stakeholders to interact and understand others’ perspectives to make this improvement. This programme trains students from a variety of engineering backgrounds and equips them with the sector’s specific skills. It allows them to gain further, in-depth knowledge of the transition towards sustainable mobility, future services, and markets and the impact of ICTs and energy technologies. The programme also provides fundamental tools in entrepreneurship and innovation for dealing with the rapid transformation of a global society. There is currently no other master’s degree in Spain that provides such comprehensive education in this field.

Its antecedents go back to the School of Noble Arts of Lonja, called Escola de Llotja, founded in 1775 and sponsored by the Junta Particular de Comercio de Barcelona, from which the Architecture Class will be created, directed by Antoni Cellars since 1817. In 1850, the teaching of the profession of Master of Works was made official within the old school of Noble Arts, transformed into the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Jorge. The School of Master Builders is the immediate predecessor of the School of Architecture. In 1972, the ETSAB was a co-founder of the UPC.
