Program Description

Welcome to the DNP Program! The DNP Graduate Program is for the registered nurse with a Masters's degree as a nurse practitioner who desires advanced education in nursing. Applicants must meet all criteria listed in the current Auburn University Graduate School bulletin. Applicants may be admitted under one of two statuses, approved or as an exception. Approved admissions meet all the criteria listed for the Graduate School and any additional criteria for the department, school, or college. Exception status admission could possibly be granted for students who do not meet certain requirements for admission. Applicants admitted as an exception will be fully admitted to the Nursing Graduate Program only when all requirements for admission have been satisfied. Applicants admitted as an exception who fail to satisfy all requirements for admission within the specified time period will be dismissed from the Nursing Graduate Program.

Admission to the DNP Program is competitive and enrollment is limited. DNP students are admitted in Summer Semester only. Full-time DNP students can complete their plan of study in five semesters. All graduate work towards a graduate degree must be completed within a period of 5 calendar years from enrollment in the first graduate course.

About the School

Auburn University College of Nursing is on the move! We are increasing the numbers of students and faculty dramatically. We moved into our new home in the summer of 2017. Newly designed and equipped simulation labs offer students and faculty the most up-to-date learning environments available. A new emphasis on interdisciplinary research and practice is creating exciting partnerships and preparing students for 21st-century health care delivery. New programs and concentrations are in development that will redefine our mission and our impact across the state, the region, and the country.

Auburn is a special place, where students grow personally and professionally through their learning partnership with an excellent and dedicated faculty. In addition to the technical skills necessary to provide safe care, students here develop communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills that will enable them to lead care teams in the future.
