Beschreibung des Programms

Interested in Supply Chain Management? Select the Business Administration major when you apply.

We live in a fast-paced environment where the efficient flow of goods, finances and information is critical to business success and consumer satisfaction. Supply chain managers help improve customer service by ensuring products are delivered to the right place, at the right time, in the proper condition, at the least possible cost, and with the right attitude. The demand for qualified professionals in this rapidly evolving industry is growing as businesses and organizations recognize the cost-savings and improved efficiency that can result from effective supply chain management.

Preparing Students to Lead

The Supply Chain Management (SCM) concentration is the most recent program addition to the School of Business and Economics at UW-Superior. This interdisciplinary major joins and complements the very successful Transportation and Logistics Management (TLM) major—one of the most distinctive and highly-regarded programs of its kind in the United States. The TLM major is focused on operations while the SCM major is more analytical in scope. SCM graduates plan and oversee the delivery of goods and services up and down supply chains while TLM graduates manage the cargo movements. The university’s longstanding relationship with a wide range of agencies and businesses make possible a multitude of internship, networking, and employment opportunities as part of students’ professional development.

Students take core business classes to gain a broad understanding of business principles, and then study the complex world of supply chains through classes that emphasize data management, quantitative analysis, and problem-solving. Students learn the business of coordinating the seamless flow of raw materials, information and products through global supply chains. Students benefit from the location of UW-Superior on the shore of Lake Superior where a major international transportation hub supports global supply chains using rail, highway, marine, air, pipelines and intermodal service.

Program Option

Students can choose from two plans of study:

  • A four-year plan earning a B.S. or a B.A. degree in Business Administration with a Supply Chain Management Concentration.
  • A four-year plan leading to a double major in Transportation and Logistics Management and Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management.

Points of Distinction

Not only is tuition at UW-Superior very affordable, but SCM students have numerous scholarship and research fellowship opportunities.

  • Students gain hands-on experience by engaging in simulations, learning from guest lecturers, going on field trips, attending conferences, participating in case study competitions, and completing internships.
  • The Transportation and Logistics/SCM Student Club offers additional opportunities for students to engage with professional societies, do volunteer work, network and have fun as they become professionals.
  • Small class sizes provide a personalized program experience.
  • The SCM program has a global emphasis, with required internationally-focused courses.
  • UW-Superior is an Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) Scholarship University.

Specialized Curriculum

Students take classes focused on skills and knowledge needed by SCM professionals, including:

  • Management Science
  • Database Management
  • Supply Chain Management International and Intermodal Transportation
  • Advanced Supply Chain Management
  • Advanced Intercultural Communications
  • Geographic Information Systems
