Program Objectives

This degree seeks to:

  • Provide in-depth and comprehensive coverage of the contents of the Bible;
  • Provide instruction in sound principles of exegesis;
  • Present the various tools and methodologies available in the hermeneutical and exegetical tasks;
  • Examine the broad range of issues involved in interpreting the Bible;
  • Explore various theological responses to issues raised by the biblical text; and
  • Offer elementary instruction in Hebrew and Greek.

Learning Outcomes

In addition to achieving success with the core curriculum learning outcomes, upon completing this degree, students will be able to:

  • Utilize sound hermeneutical principles and basic grammatical aids in the interpretation of Scripture;
  • Answer critical questions concerning authorship, dating, and place of composition of the books of the Bible;
  • Analyze the primary people, places, and events described in the books of the Old and New Testaments;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in the composition of Scripture, as well as the illumination of the Holy Spirit in the reading and application of Scripture;
  • Articulate the general theological categories and views of evangelical Christianity, including the distinctiveness of The King’s University; and demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of the history, traditions, and practices of the Church.

The King’s University (TKU) is an accredited, Spirit-empowered, evangelical university with branch campuses and teaching sites in multiple U.S. cities. TKU offers students a complete educational experience by combining higher education with practical ministry experience within dynamic local churches. This complete educational experience prepares and equips students to serve in the local church, the marketplace and around the world.

Dr. Jack Hayford, Founder and Chancellor of The King’s University, and Pastor Robert Morris, founding Senior Pastor of Gateway Church, have cultivated a unique partnership, in that Dr. Hayford serves as an apostolic elder of Gateway Church, and Pastor Robert currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for The King’s University. Dr. Hayford and Pastor Robert share the value of excellence and professionalism in their vision to train men and women for the work of the Kingdom wherever God gives them influence. This shared vision led to the creation of a TKU campus at Gateway Church.

With more than 700 students university-wide, and 270 students at the Southlake campus in DFW, TKU’s dynamic learning environment and Spirit-empowered community enable its students to learn, develop skills and talents, and grow in relationships with fellow students, faculty and with the Lord.
