Most children pretend to be doctors at one point or another. It's another thing to become one. Just gaining the skills and knowledge, it takes to apply to medical school involves a great deal of work and preparation. At MTSU, students can take those important first steps toward a career in medicine, all while benefiting from the one-on-one attention from teachers and counselors that help make the MTSU experience unique!
There is no Pre Medical major at MTSU. We feel very strongly that students are better served completing a major of their choice while preparing for Medical School. While many students choose to major in a traditional science such as Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry, we encourage those with interests outside the natural sciences to pursue those majors. As a result, we have Pre Medical students majoring in departments all across campus including Psychology, English, and Communication. All students will work with advisors in the Pre Professional Health Science Advising Center to ensure that they are taking the recommended courses and getting appropriate extracurricular activities needed to be successful on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and in Medical School.
