The teaching in the architecture course with a bachelor's degree is practice-oriented and designed to independently analyze and holistically solve planning and construction problems within the framework of given work structures. The training is intended to enable students to solve the basic tasks of an architect on a creative, technical, economic, ecological, cultural and social level.

The practical semester can be completed in all architectural offices, offices of the authorities and suitable planning offices in the construction industry in which the training is guaranteed by a registered architect (according to § 3 of the Baden-Württemberg Architects Act or corresponding provisions of other countries). The internship can also be carried out abroad in appropriate institutions. A change of internship position is only possible in consultation with the head of the internship office.

The preparation for the internship takes place within the framework of an event with the head of the internship office. For follow-up, the practical activity is to be documented in a report that describes the duration of the training, its content and reference to practice, as well as the scope of the student's own work. This report must be confirmed by those responsible for the practical training and submitted to the internship office at the end of the 6th semester.

On the basis of the proof of activity and the practical report, a decision is made as to whether the student has successfully completed the practical semester. If the practical semester is not recognized as successfully completed, it can be repeated once. The head of the internship office is responsible for the decision.

Supervision is offered to accompany the practical semester. The head of the internship office decides on the respective structure. Supervision is tailored to the individual circumstances of the intern.
