Master of Business Administration

The College of Charleston School of Business MBA program offers high-achieving students a unique, accelerated academic experience designed to position our graduates for career opportunities in the global marketplace. The one-year, fulltime global MBA program, accredited by AACSB International , is built around a core of innovative thinking, aggressive learning, and real-world experience. High performing students with backgrounds in political science, biology, communication, history, sports management, IT, law, business, and other bachelor and graduate degrees are enrolled in our program.

Scholarships and Graduate Assistantships We invite highly qualified individuals from around the world to apply for our MBA program. Several scholarships are available to international students based largely on high GMAT scores and successful completion of high quality undergraduate degree programs. The scholarships may fund up to $15,000 toward tuition fees. In addition, graduate assistantships are awarded based on merit and financial need.

Program Details

The globally focused, applied learning and accelerated program are appealing if you just recently earned an undergraduate degree or if you are looking to jump start or reposition your professional ambitions. Our MBA has three focus areas to choose from including finance, marketing, and hospitality revenue management. With a faster path to graduation, it means you can begin your career sooner.

The program starts with a required 3 week "boot camp" which provides immersion into functional business areas such as accounting, finance and communication. Three additional online prep courses are required before the semester start. Other program features include:

  • Cohort-based learning with peers starting and completing the program together;
  • Courses presented in six-week modules;
  • Required travel study for 10-14days to Asia, Europe or Latin American countries;
  • An integrated capstone course to complete the program curriculum following the travel study.

Work experience is not required.

Candidates have between 0 and 5 years work experience.

Three MBA Focus Areas

1. MBA Focus in Finance

The finance focus area appeals to those interested in the finance sector including investment banking, commercial banking, investment management, corporate finance, and real estate. If you are considering a career as a controller, corporate treasurer, retail banker or consumer lender, then the MBA with a focus in finance is the right track for you.

Topics covered in the finance courses include advanced valuation and feasibility analysis, investments and financial modeling, and international finance and risk management with forecasting. With these applied learning courses,graduatesqualify formanagement consulting and account management positions in several industries. The learning objectives focus onyour ability to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate firm performance from several different aspects.

2. MBA Focus in Marketing

The marketing focus area is designed to give future marketing directors, product and brand managers, and sales and marketing vice presidents a deeper understanding of core disciplines in consumer positioning and strategy, qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, and decision making. Combined with Creativity and Innovation, Global Enterprise and other required program courses, the three courses in the focus sequence provide a strong foundation for candidates interested in careers in marketing with global implications.

3. Hospitality Revenue Managemen t - Grow Beyond Hotel Operations Be a part of the fastest growing, highly valued field in the global hospitality and tourism industry. Earn your MBA with a focus in hospitality revenue management to uniquely position your career and advancement opportunities in the industry.

Our MBA with a focus in revenue management will prepare you for management-level opportunities in travel-related companies around the world.

    Application Criteria

    • Application deadline: U.S. students due May 1. International students due April 1.
    • Competitive score on GMAT, GRE or approved graduate proficiency exam
    • Competitive undergraduate GPA; 3.0 minimum
    • Two letters of recommendation – one must be an academic reference
    • Goal statement (300 word maximum)
    • For international students: English language accreditation TOEFL 83 or IELTS 6.5

Guest Speakers Students are mentored by and have access to senior corporate executives on our Board of Governors who actively engage with the MBA cohort in and out of the classroom.
